FromSoftware's special broadcast showcased 15 minutes of gameplay for Elden Ring, a hotly anticipated (especially for Bloodborne and Dark Souls fans) open-world action RPG featuring A Song of Ice and Fire author George Martin.
Elden Ring stands out primarily for its fantasy medieval setting - the action takes place in the Inter-Earth, which was formerly ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, mistress of the coveted Ring. According to the plot of the game, when the Ring, which endowed the lands and the people of the Interdark with the "golden light", split, the descendants of Marika - the demigod-heroes of the Ancient Lords - divided its fragments, known as the Great Runes, among themselves and entered into an internecine war known as the Sundering. In Elden Ring, players take on the role of the Tarnished Exile who returns to the Interdark to gain the power of the Ancient Ring and become the Ancient Lord himself.
Features of gameplay and mechanics
In the preview, the developers showed the locations of the Interdark, including multi-level dungeons, and a very detailed relief map of the world (you can put marks on it), which will open gradually. The demo also showed the main mechanics, including: creating items, full-fledged stealth (you can sneak up on enemies or quietly bypass especially dangerous monsters), the ability to call for help as NPCs (spirits) and other players, a combination of melee weapons and magic, and the spirit of the horse to move around the big world. Surely, this horse spirit will eventually become an idol and become widely known as Roach from The Witcher.
Instead of bonfires or lanterns, Elden Ring is a "place of grace" where the Tarnished One can rest and restore his health. Sometimes, touching a “place of grace” will generate a beam of light that can guide players towards their next target. These tips will come in handy for those who want to focus on the main storyline.
During the demonstration, the developers showed the face of the keeper Melina with a tattooed eye, one of the side quests with the release of a character in the form of a pot named Alexander, Iron Fist, a battle scene with a dragon and a battle with one of the demigods - Godric the Golden (ruler of Stormvale), brandishing a huge ax with the prancing lion emblem (like the Lannisters; influenced by George Martin).
By the way, the gameplay itself was recorded on a PC.

Start of pre-orders and edition
At the same time, Elden Ring pre-orders started on Steam, PS Store and Microsoft Store. There are two editions to choose from Standard and Deluxe, which additionally include an artbook and an original soundtrack. System requirements are still unknown.

Elden Ring was fully announced at Summer Game Fest 2021. Last month, the developers announced that the game will not be released on January 21, 2022, as planned, but a month later - on February 25, 2022. Also announced the terms and conditions of the closed test of multiplayer on consoles - it will be held from 12 to 14 November.
Elden Ring will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S. Previously, publisher Bandai Namco also confirmed the possibility of a free upgrade to versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.
