The review and release trailer for Elden Ring was released yesterday.
Preloading Elden Ring on PC and consoles (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S) began on the night of February 23rd - you can play Dark Souls in the open-world this Friday, February 25th.
Elden Ring stands out primarily for its medieval fantasy setting - the action takes place in the Inter-earth, which was previously ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, mistress of the cherished Ring. The Mi of the game was woven by Hidetaka Miyazaki (creator of Dark Souls and Bloodborne). Also involved in the project was the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, George Martin.
According to the plot of the game, when the Ring, which endowed the lands and people of Interearth with "golden light", was split, then the descendants of Marika - the demigod heroes of the Ancient Lords - divided its fragments among themselves, known as the Great Runes, and entered into an internecine war known as the Split. In Elden Ring, players will take on the role of an exiled Tarnished who returns to the Interearth to acquire the power of the Ancient Ring and become an Ancient Overlord himself.
