Several posts about the phenomenon have surfaced on the network but Christopher Foss' tweet received special attention when he noted that the classic Chrono Cross title he had previously purchased digitally had stopped working. This happened a day after the launch of Chrono Cross The Radical Dreamers Edition, a remake of the title for modern consoles so he wondered if there was a connection between the two.
Other surfers have started attaching their testimonials regarding other classic titles that suffer from the same phenomenon when some wondered if Sony has a hand in the matter as the company recently announced an upgraded PlayStation Plus subscription that allows the highest price level to play in a library of all-time classic games.
As more details began to arrive it seemed that this was not a vicious conspiracy by the game distributors and Sony to get people to buy new versions or subscribe one way or another - but a glitch on the part of the PlayStation servers.
Thus it was discovered that common to all these reports is that the games were given an expiration date of 1.1.1970 - the data obtained when the value 0 is found in the time of Unix-based systems. Either way, some users report that the glitch went away on its own and so far no reference has been received from Sony.
