It all started with a joke posted on the Twitter account Wario64, with a link to a toy remote from the Fischer-Price company, which is a bit reminiscent in its general form of the Xbox remote, albeit in a slightly more colorful and softer design. "This sign will be perfect for the Elden Ring," it read.
At Rudeism, a Twitter account that has previously uploaded a number of unusual projects of turning various objects into game controllers decided to accept the challenge. Indeed, after several days of work, the Fisher-Price toy remote has become an Xbox remote for all intents and purposes, capable of connecting to both a PC and Xbox consoles. The remote is even used to play the challenging action game Elden Ring, as you can see in the video attached to the post.
Of course behind the scenes, it took quite a bit of work to adjust the toy remote, which does not contain real game buttons and is not able to connect to talk like a fully functioning remote. The remote control's digital control panel has been completely replaced, which required careful planning to fit all the required components into a relatively small space, as well as 3D printing of various plastic parts and the creation of a USB connection.
For Rudeism, however, this is actually one of the "cleaner" projects for him. In the past, projects in which bananas have become game signs have been considered, and another project in which the channel's creator managed to end the action game Dark Souls 3 while controlling the game using Morse code.
